Day 7 - May 7th

Today is a laid back day. It's pampering time for me. Just stayed in bed, rested until 11am while doing FB on the side and watched Christina Aguilera's Stripped Live in the UK Concert on DVD. It's been a long time I haven't watched that video, lol! I have to go back to that because I would like to see how she performed Infatuation since I've learned the song yesterday at Vocal Technique class.

Also, I have to let my body rest in order to focus and clear my mind from all unwanted elements surrounding me (if ever). In between, I tried to go over my showcase pieces and memorizing it mentally including the choreography (visualization). As Jim Cooney said on our last rehearsal last night to write down what we need to work on so that we will not forget it when we come to the show tomorrow. I prepared and cooked my lunch afterwards. Ha,ha,ha!!! I actually experimented, (I'm not a cook) but it was a success (I think). Well, it's just me whose going to eat it anyway. You'll see later when I post my picture below and be the judge.

I tried organizing my photos and videos and created my you tube account. Until now, I'm still uploading videos from my daily challenge. You know, this challenge teaches you a lot of things and most importantly is managing your time effectively despite your busy schedule. A special skill you have to learn when you live in New York City. Enough said, let me go to my daily challenge now.

Health-Conscious Meal #8

Ta-da!!! Here's my experiment :)
Sauteed mince garlic, onions, and tomatoes using canola oil (very minimal) with Lean-White Chicken and Organic Firm Tofu mixed with organic carrots and bell pepper dash with pepper and crystal sea salt and 2 teaspoon of soy sauce. Honestly, it taste good and it is still eating healthy. Then there's my 1 cup brown jasmine rice, 4 slices of Navel Orange and a glass of water. All products are from Trader Joe's

I left my apartment just before 6pm and managed to pick up something from the sewer then drop off my dirty laundry. I proceeded to Ripley-Grier to practice and used Studio 16-I from 7-7:30pm. It's big studio room :)

Daily Practice #7
Minutes: 30
Songs worked on: Daily Vocalization Exercises 1-6, review Infatuation by Christina Aguilera, and Run-through the alto part of "Because" from Across The Universe. (I don't have a picture for this challenge)

Voice Lesson #1
Worked on Vocalizations (finding my lower register and how to shift the voice smoothly from head tone to chest voice without any effort), Infatuation, Because (alto part and Kurt had to sing the men's part to blend with me). I sang it solo first then he joined in to harmonize with me. We also went over 21 Guns and he would like me to learn and study the women's different voice parts. We'll work on Flower Drum Song next meeting and he'll find me a new repertoire as well.

With my Vocal Coach, Mr. Kurt Robinson. Before we started our lesson, Kurt have asked me to tell something about myself so he would know me better and I did. It was an effortless lesson I would say. Effortless in a sense that my throat is relax all the time when I was singing. Having said that, it is so easy to sing but my homework is to find my lower register and my chest tone when I'm shifting from my head tone. I'll work on that this coming week.
